WVAAE, How we started

This project started as a collaboration between British Council Ethiopia.

WVAAE

WVAAE was created by a group of teacher trainers with backgrounds in music, art and English language teaching. Inspiration for the association stemmed from British Council’s World Voice project, which our teacher trainers delivered. The British Council supported WVAAE’s start up as a legacy for their World Voice project in Ethiopia.

Despite the impact of Covid 19 on education WVAAE has continued delivering projects with organisations such as British Council, Youth Council Foundation, and Ethiopia Reads.

WVAAE is a not-for-profit organisation established in 2019 with a social enterprise wing. Our broad aim is improving education in Ethiopia through creative approaches including capacity building for creative education with leaders, hands-on work with teachers and students, reaching into non-traditional learning spaces and schools.

Creative education aims to enhance learning outcomes across the curriculum through approaches such as song, visual art, music and storytelling. It focuses on developing 21st century skills such as innovation, critical thinking and creativity, enriching learning with meaningful and impactful experiences.
